The UK Government, as an incentive for commercial users of energy
to become more energy efficient, introduced the Climate Change Levy
in April 2001. It is part of the Government's Climate Change Programme,
which aims to reduce emissions of greenhouse gas.
Even before this Levy was introduced most companies would gain
healthy financial benefits by undertaking a review of their energy
use and implementing basic energy efficiency methods. But now that
the Levy is in place, these benefits are even more significant.
We offer a range of lamps and tubes that can contribute to savings
in the use of electrical energy.
The following lamps offer potential savings without the need to
change light fittings.
Polylux Fluorescent Tubes
These have a life of 15,000 hours as opposed to 9,000 hours for
standard white tubes and give 12.5% additional life for the same
wattage tube.
The colour rendition remains high for 98% of the tube life.
Low Energy BC & ES Ambience GLS
These have a life of 12,000 hours as opposed to 1,000 hours for
ordinary GLS household lamps and at 11 watt ambience produce an
electricity saving of 80%. This produces further savings in that
there is 80% less heat output.
IRC Dichroics
These give a constant colour output for 98% of their life with no
colour shift and a 35 watt IRC dichroic gives 50 watts of light
with a 30% electricity saving. This produces further savings in
that there is 30% less heat output.
